This week on Wednesday we celebrate 29 years of business in Denton Texas. A town I was born and raised in. I’ll say more about that Wednesday but for the meantime I teach a class on Wednesdays at 6pm at 407 academy. This Wednesday I’d like to welcome anyone and everyone to my class at 6pm for open training. We will be doing rounds with no time limits and sharing a few stores from when I was 19 and I opened the doors to RMA. Hope to see you there. 🙏

October 1st 1996 was the first day @rmajiujitsu had classes. I had just graduated high school ! Crazy looking back on it now to see what it has become. I remember sitting in school just waiting to get out so I could open this school. I remember at the time I had a school counselor that met with me my senior year and he asked me in his office to see what it was I wanted to do with my life. I remember telling him I was going to open a martial arts school. He laughed at me. Told me i better pick something that had a future. Well I’ve never been one to follow someone else’s path. I knew at 19 I would do this forever. And now here we are 28 years later ! Tons of people to thank. This list is long. I’m grateful for every single person that has been a part of this actual daydream I had 28 years ago and was able to turn into a reality. There is absolutely no way @rmajiujitsu would be what it is today without so many people that helped me along the way. If I could give one piece of advice I have learned over the years it would be to develop relationships in a honest way that last a lifetime. I have tried my best at that and I believe that’s one great thing @rmajiujitsu has that few get to. Great relationships. Here’s to 28 years and I’m excited to see where the years ahead take us all. Thank you 🙏

Record release / listening party / open mat / BBQ

“I wanted to show my students you can do anything through martial arts. I chose to combine two arts — music and martial arts — blend them together and create an idea. That’s where I came up with the name When Arts Collide. Martial arts has opened so many doors for me. I want people to see that with the dedication and consistency martial arts provide, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. I surrounded myself with the best musicians and teachers to make that happen. Just like I do in martial arts. Hope you enjoy it and it gives you hope to achieve your dreams.” ~ Mark Reding

Date: May 10th 2024

Time: TBD

Thank you for your support!

On January 12th 2023, Mark Reding had the extreme honor to be promoted to 9th degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate under his instructor of 30 years, Tim Bulot.

“30 years ago I started the journey to learn American Kenpo Karate. I was fortunate that I met Tim Bulot Milena and he has been my mentor and guide since I was 15 years old in the art. He is the only Kenpo instructor I have ever had. Today he awarded me as well as some of my close friends to the rank of 9th degree black belt in American kenpo karate. It represents a lifetime of learning the art and teaching it. I never set out in any of the arts I practice to achieve a rank. Honestly I never think of rank. I just want to learn. And I want my students to see that to this day I never stop learning and growing. Also to my kids who I hope read this, that anything you want in life is possible if you work hard, surround yourself with good people , and love what you do. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this chapter in my martial art life and I hope I’m around to pass it on for many more years to come.” – Mark Reding

“When I was 13 I walked into the Denton Optimist Club in my hometown to try a martial arts class. When I walked out that evening I knew I would do martial arts the rest of my life. Not only that, but I knew I would have my own school. It’s all I ever wanted to do. That was nearly 32 years ago. Today I feel the same way. I love everything about martial arts and what it can do for people. Today I opened my school 25 years ago. Thank you to everyone would never be enough. And there is way too many people to list on here that have been a part of the journey. So I would like to say if you have had any part of this amazing journey I started 25 years ago thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the opportunity to teach you. Many of you started with me when I was just a kid and you trusted me. Thank you. To all my family, students, teachers, and friends thank you for helping me on this path. I’m forever grateful. See you on the mats.” – Professor Mark Reding
