This week on Wednesday we celebrate 29 years of business in Denton Texas. A town I was born and raised in. I’ll say more about that Wednesday but for the meantime I teach a class on Wednesdays at 6pm at 407 academy. This Wednesday I’d like to welcome anyone and everyone to my class at 6pm for open training. We will be doing rounds with no time limits and sharing a few stores from when I was 19 and I opened the doors to RMA. Hope to see you there. 🙏

Reding Martial Arts 28th Anniversary

October 1st 1996 was the first day @rmajiujitsu had classes. I had just graduated high school ! Crazy looking back on it now to see what it has become. I remember sitting in school just waiting to get out so I could open this school. I remember at the time I had a school counselor that met with me my senior year and he asked me in his office to see what it was I wanted to do with my life. I remember telling him I was going to open a martial arts school. He laughed at me. Told me i better pick something that had a future. Well I’ve never been one to follow someone else’s path. I knew at 19 I would do this forever. And now here we are 28 years later ! Tons of people to thank. This list is long. I’m grateful for every single person that has been a part of this actual daydream I had 28 years ago and was able to turn into a reality. There is absolutely no way @rmajiujitsu would be what it is today without so many people that helped me along the way. If I could give one piece of advice I have learned over the years it would be to develop relationships in a honest way that last a lifetime. I have tried my best at that and I believe that’s one great thing @rmajiujitsu has that few get to. Great relationships. Here’s to 28 years and I’m excited to see where the years ahead take us all. Thank you 🙏

Reding Martial Arts 25th Anniversary

“When I was 13 I walked into the Denton Optimist Club in my hometown to try a martial arts class. When I walked out that evening I knew I would do martial arts the rest of my life. Not only that, but I knew I would have my own school. It’s all I ever wanted to do. That was nearly 32 years ago. Today I feel the same way. I love everything about martial arts and what it can do for people. Today I opened my school 25 years ago. Thank you to everyone would never be enough. And there is way too many people to list on here that have been a part of the journey. So I would like to say if you have had any part of this amazing journey I started 25 years ago thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the opportunity to teach you. Many of you started with me when I was just a kid and you trusted me. Thank you. To all my family, students, teachers, and friends thank you for helping me on this path. I’m forever grateful. Super excited to say our bourbon has finally arrived! A couple months back Larry Sutherland and I went and picked out our own barrel at Garrison Brothers and today we finally got it in. Reding Martial Arts won best of Denton again for the 8th straight year! I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you to all who voted. I get to live a life many only dream of because of all of you. People ask me all the time how I have been able to be open this long or how did I go about doing this when I was 19. In short I heard a guy say one time he set fear on fire and gave dreaming a fair shot. Sounds pretty much the same in my head. Thank you!
